Decided to check this place out from the bookmarks on my list since I was in the area. Cute German cafe. Lots of old culture and ambiance. Every was fresh and homemade. Staff was nice and accomdating. We ordered a sandwhich and potato salad. Also an omelette with potatoes, onions and bacon which came with a fresh salad. All tasted wonderful. After eating you can venture Over to the bakery side for a yummy pastry or dessert.

I have been going to Edelweiss for years! We love getting their authentic German breads and pretzels, all made from scratch each day. My favorite is the double crusted sour rye. It is super crunchy on the outside and soft/hearty in the inside. Fantastic for sandwiches or just alone as toast with butter! Their bakery items are very tempting, I've tried their cookies and have never been disappointed. To be honest, I come for the fresh bread. If you get there early, be sure to pick up a few pretzels (they have twisted, rolls, and sticks). They are simply divine and sell out quickly. In addition to the bakery, they have a small cafe with table service where you can get lots of German goodness like soups, sandwiches, and breakfast items.

It's been my routine to head to Fort Lauderdale Beach on Saturday and Sunday mornings to get my exercise in. Afterward, I'll typically find a place to buy some piece of bakery. I love them all, whether they are Italian, French or, in this case, German Bakeries. On this particular visit, my second such visit to Edelweiss, I ordered a loaf of German rye, which turned out to be really tasty (I like to toast it on the day after I purchase it and eat it fresh the day of). And, for good measure, I ordered a chocolate eclair and an apple strudel slice. Both were very tasty. The apple strudel is something I'll purchase for future visits. On my prior visit, I've purchased a ham and egg sandwich, with bacon. I would strongly recommend ordering this if you have a big appetite. They give you a rather large portion of scrambled eggs. It's good, but it's a lot to eat. They have a very subtle outdoor cafe, as well as a place to eat on the inside next to the bakery. The bakery has a lot of German-inspired desserts and bakery, as well as standards, such as Potato salad, and things like that. Looking forward to trying other types of bread and desserts. I saw they had some Black Forest Cake, which is my all-time favorite.

Great place! Park south in the parking lot in front of the bakery to avoid the meters. The food is genuine. The coffee is just like the Germans make it! Really nice atmosphere to enjoy the food too! Very fast service!

Order Ur pretzel because they sell out. They offered to reserve us one for pickup tomorrow. While there today I bought a slice of the Sacher Torte. It was excellent. It tasted fresh and moist. It had a layer of chocolate in the middle and was covered in the chocolate frosting. They are creative and put an "S"on the top of the slice. It cost $2.75. The staff was friendly and sounded German. Parking: Some spots are metered and some are not.

I am from New Jersey but visit this little Gem each time I go to Fort Lauderdale. It is immaculate the servers are wonderful and the food is just amazing. I always go for the basics... breakfast food eggs and bacon as it reminds me of years gone by when my dad would cook the eggs in the bacon grease. Probably not good for my heart but definitely good for my soul. Coffee is amazing!! I have no idea what they do to it but it is oh so rich and wonderful Best cup of coffee I have ever had...seriously! You can sit at one of their oh so clean tables or sit outside and get service. They also sell pastries to go, but I was always on the run so cannot review. I'm sure they are wonderful. Do not miss this place for breakfast or brunch on your visit to Fort Lauderdale!

Very good German bakery and deli with seating and waiters/waitresses like a restaurant. I came here yesterday for brunch. I had the schnitzel with sauerkraut. Some of the best sauerkraut I've ever had. I prefer veal schnitzel to pork schnitzel, and I also like it more thinly pounded than they serve it, but it was still very good. The woman I was with had the Farmer's Omelette and it was also very good (and huge). Enough to share with me and also bring some back home to share with others. They always serve some of the best bread I've ever had, either white (which is nice and fluffy), or wheat (which has nicely "burnt" edges with a great flavor), or sunflower seed bread which is nutritious and delicious. After eating something savory there, you can always get a sweet treat, either there or to take home. This place really works well as either a bakery, a deli, or a sit down restaurant. Prices are pretty reasonable here as well. I'd highly recommend it if you like German bakeries/delis or just bakeries/delis in general.

We used to love going there but last few times we went there, the service was borderline rude to downright condescending. Last time we went, the girls were busy discussing something loudly and pointedly ignored us for 5 mins. There are plenty on other options around. We are not planning to go back.

Yesterday the Sacher torte was a delicious substitute for a pretzel. I reserved a pretzel for today. The atmosphere is a small little German bakery with high quality items. It's amazing how many German places are in this area.

This is probably one of the best traditional German/Polish bakery's in south Florida. Not only is it a Bakery but also you can sit down and have a great breakfast or lunch. I had the Frikedelle (a German meatball) with Brown gravy and Potato salad. Hands down the best frikadelle I've had that wasn't home cooked!! It's worth a shot if you're in the Fort Lauderdale area to have a visit. Have a Beer, some lunch, and maybe grab some fresh baked sweets to go! Prosit!

Took my son last weekend for lunch and a taste of Germany. The brats, pork schnitzel and kaese spaetzle were great and the staff was friendly. Judging from the food and the amount of German being spoken around us, this place is the real deal.

I LOVE this place. It is as close to living in Germany as I will ever be again. It is the BEST cup of coffee/latte you will find in Fort Lauderdale, hell maybe best in Florida. This place is a gem and the PLUM TART is to die for. I am sad when I get there to late and it is sold out :-( I have never tried their dish they offer daily, it changes to whatever it is they make but they do have German deli to get sandwiches, cookies, cakes, etc. When you don't hear anyone speaking English. It is the place to be for the real deal.

I've driven by this place a million times and always wondered if it was any good. One day, the Sun-Sentinel read my mind and posted a positive review on it, so I decided to check it out. Pluses: it's an adorable place. The shop itself is very cozy and warm feeling - it feels like a room in someone's home. Ambiance is akin to a small cafe in Europe, and this includes the patrons. Minuses: the baked goods are fairly expensive, and sadly, not fantastic enough to warrant the prices. I tried a couple of different things to get a feel for the Euro-inspired sweets: a Linzer cookie, a cookie with a raspberry center, and a poppyseed cake. The Linzer cookie was very good, and worth ordering again. The raspberry cookie was slightly odd, with a strangely unsweetened, cracker-like flavor and super hard, too-crunchy texture. The poppyseed cake was the strangest of all: a very dry bottom layer of cake, poppyseed filling mixed with cream cheese (??), and a weird blend of cheese and crumbs as topping. I love poppyseed desserts in general, but this was so bizarre I couldn't even finish it. I don't know if either of these were representative of a more European style of baking, but I didn't like either interpretation, and both were desserts I normally enjoy. I went there late in the day, and didn't see any other desserts worth trying, and after this experience, I don't see myself returning. Lastly, a minor gripe - the parking spaces in front are all metered. Ugh! This bakery is cute, but the desserts are nothing really amazing.

Simply just love this place. Either I'm eating to satisfy my sweet tooth or satisfying my hunger for wonderful german food. I bring my relatives to this place every time they visit. It is such a hit with them. I'm even asked to bring pastries from here when I visit those relatives back home in Texas. Thank you Edelweiss Bakery. You are wonderful.

I know I might take some flak on this and that I shouldn't generalize or stereotype, but Germans seem to have traditionally been pretty darn good at three things: Beer, Sausages, and Bread. So, I'm rather bias when selecting my beers, sausages and breads but having such choices when it comes to foods of ethnic or cultural diversity is one of things that, to me, makes America so great. There isn't another country in the world as diverse or offers so much. Edelweiss is more than just a bakery. It's a small market place and a café as well. They have all sorts of breads, some of them a Kassler, being a sourdough, a sour rye, multigrain, sunflower, dark cracked rye, rolls such a sesame, poppy and caraway, brezeles, pastries of all sorts, cakes and cookies. Then on their shelf section, mustards, sauce mixes, pickles and vinegars, and in their refrigerated section sausages, meats and jarred herrings amongst a number of other items. Edelweiss is spotlessly clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the café section where you can eat in, comfortable with a pleasant décor. Some of the hits of Edelweiss are their scrambled egg breakfasts, their apple strudel, pretzels, and Black Forest Cake.
